THE manager of a pleasure boat firm is planning to walk 630 miles to raise awareness of the lack of drinking water in the Third World.
Chris Yalland, 43, general manager of Bradford on Avon firm Sally Boats, will walk solo around the south west coastal path to highlight the 2.2m people who die as a result of the water shortages.
He said: "Every month a tsunami's worth of people are dying. African countries are in typically dire straits.
"Things like this are taken for granted in this country. The 22 miles I'm walking each day is not an untypical distance for a family to go and get water."
Mr Yalland, from Balmoral Road, Trowbridge, will set off on April 11.
The route runs from Minehead in Somerset to South Haven Point near Poole, Dorset. He aims to cover the distance in 28 days, walking a total of 22 miles a day he will take a break on Sundays.
