SWINDON residents have recycled nearly two tonnes of plastic bottles since last November.
The amount that has been recycled is the equivalent of 40,000 plastic bottles enough to stretch from Swindon to Marlborough.
There are now four plastic bottle banks in Swindon at Waterside Park, Cheney Manor, Sainsbury's in Stratton, the Haydon Centre in Haydon Wick and the Ellendune Centre in Wroughton.
Cabinet member for Swindon services, Justin Tomlinson, said: "This is exactly the direction we need to be going in. Year on year we are improving recycling and that is a credit to both the local residents and council."
