MORE than 2,000 trees are to be planted in Purton Wood as part of a tree planting and activity day.
The event at the wood next to Moulden Hill will take place as part of the Woodland Trust's Tree for All campaign.
Everybody who goes along to the event on Saturday, March 5 from 10am to 3.30pm will get the chance to plant a tree.
As well as planting trees, a range of children's activities will also be taking place including bird feeder making and face painting.
Kavita Heyn, the regional development officer of the Woodland Trust, said: "Planting a tree is fun and a great way for people to discover the beauty of the woodland.
"By giving communities the chance to plant trees the Woodland Trust and the Great Western Community Forest hope to inspire care for our native woodland."
The event is free and there will be a park and ride from Arclite house, the former Cellular Operations building next to Peatmoor Lagoon in West Swindon. Volunteers are asked to wear boots and take a spade.
