A TIME capsule containing modern-day medical gadgets will be buried at Great Western Hospital this weekend.
The flagship hospital is to hold an open day tomorrow.
And before the doors are opened to the public bosses will plant the capsule in the courtyard of the new Brunel NHS Treatment Centre.
Chris Birdsall, spokesman for Swindon and Marlborough NHS Trust, said: "We'll place a range of medical equipment in there, including gloves and a syringe.
"There'll be no opening date on it so it'll be dug up when the hospital has gone, which hopefully won't be for some considerable time yet."
The open day runs between 10am and 3pm and is open to all members of the public. There will be stalls and displays to help people understand the highs and lows of working on the busy wards.
