WESTLECOT will contest four of the national ladies indoor championships events which are being staged in Nottingham over the next seven days.
They have representatives in the last 16 in the triples, over 50s two wood triples, under 25 singles and champion of champions.
Wendy Anderson and Joyce Laming are the only players from the club who will contest the final stages of two events.
Anderson is through to the last 16 in the champion of champions on Monday and faces Lynda Jarman (Cambridge Chesterton).
She is joined by Laming and Jean Bird for the Over 50s two wood triples that sees them play Eldon on Wednesday. The trio finished as runners-up in this competition three years ago.
However, Laming begins her quest for glory earlier when she links up with Josie Lloyd and Doris Woodley for the triples which starts tomorrow. They meet Glebelands (North Finchley) in the last 16.
The last Westlecot finalist and youngest by many years is Victoria Harding.
The 16-year-old will be making her debut in the championships and competes in the last 16 of the under 25 singles today when she plays Boston's Sarah McKay.
LOCAL rivals Westlecot and Thamesdown clash tomorrow in the Wessex League.
Both men's teams want the victory but for completely different reasons.
Westlecot are unbeaten in their six previous matches and head the East group on 84 points, nine ahead of Oxford & District, while Thamesdown are situated in the lower reaches with only 30 points.
Tomorrow Westlecot need to take 10 of the 16 points on offer to make certain of winning the East Region title.
On the other hand Oasis-based Thamesdown have found life tough this season and lie in sixth place. Therefore for them only pride is at stake tomorrow.
Westlecot show several changes to the side that thrashed basement club Rivermead (Reading) 101-64 a fortnight ago.
