THE squeals from the officials who write Michael Wills' letters are getting more shrill, as well they might, because later this year they face the prospect of redundancy.

Their latest attack on county councillors suggests that Swindon could be regarded by the next Conservative government as a Labour town in a rural area.

It appears not to have been noticed that, if the Conservatives are to win the next election, then his will be the first seat lost. I am sure he will soon find a safer seat elsewhere or perhaps join his friend and former close colleague Peter Mandelson, who now enjoys the power and lavish lifestyle of an EEC Commissioner in Brussels.
