ANDY KING is quite literally prepared to go the distance as he strives to add to his squad in time for Saturday's mouthwatering battle with Bournemouth at the County Ground.

The Town boss hinted he was going on a long journey north today in order to pursue a potential new signing, probably another striker.

With Rory Fallon currently on loan at Yeovil, King just has Michael Proctor (pictured) and Jamie Slabber to offer scoring support to Sam Parkin.

He was giving nothing away about his intended target, although he revealed the man in question is set to be released by a Premiership club.

It seems there are several irons in the transfer target fire, although no guarantees of success.

Far from simply being content with the players he currently has at his disposal, the manager is looking to secure every possible means of help to boost the club's play-off push.

King said: "I'm trying to take us all forward.

"I might be going somewhere today, somewhere I don't really want to go as it's a long, long way, to see a player that, if released by his club, I would take on terms to the end of the year with a view to signing him next year.

"But it is all 'if's' at this stage. He may have other choices.

"I've also made another phone call about a player who has played in the Premiership before and wants to now play back in England.

"I'm looking at a few things and I'll continue to look.

"When the season's gone the season's gone.

"It's no good talking about it then."
