THAMES Water has received an award for its openness in reporting on social and environmental issues.
The award was given in spite of the fact that in February the company was ordered to pay £58,000 in fines and costs after raw sewage spilled out of one of its water treatment plants.
More than 8,000 fish were killed. Thames Water was fined £50,000 with £8,270 costs as a result.
The award was given for Thames Water's annual Corporate Responsibility Report. It was awarded as part of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountant's UK Awards for Sustainability Reporting.
