SWINDON residents with some time to spare are being asked to do their bit for the community by applying to be learning ambassadors.
The recruitment of learning ambassadors will be funded by the European Social Fund and supported by the Swindon Learning Partnership. The role is to meet up with adults who need help and encouragement with learning and acquiring new skills.
Learning ambassadors link up with those adults then put them in touch with learning or job opportunities.
They motivate and encourage them and in return get training for the skills they need.
The role involves three hours of paid work a week at £6.50 per hour and two additional hours of unpaid work a week. You can work from home or at community learning venues in Penhill, Pinehurst, Moredon, Central Swindon, Parks and East Walcot.
Kate Rowe, who is co-ordinating the scheme, said: "This is a very rewarding scheme for anybody who sees the benefit of adult learning.
"It's very good for people who may have had a rough start with learning in their younger years."
The deadline for applications is March 14 and interviews will be on March 21 and 22.
