THE WINTRY weather continues in Swindon but children needn't reach for their sledges just yet.
While a dusting of snow left areas like Coate Water looking idyllic, it doesn't appear to want to settle.
Kevin Hogg, of the Met Office, explained why the snowfalls of recent days haven't brought the kind of winters grandma can remember.
"The snow would need to be heavy and persistent," he said.
"It has settled in parts of Wiltshire, but Swindon has probably escaped because it is an urban area.
"Concrete tends to absorb heat, so snow doesn't settle.
"Swindon is also low compared to other areas of Wiltshire."
A hard frost is forecast tonight, while more snow and sleet is on the way tomorrow and Friday.
Mr Hogg added: "There is no sign of spring just yet."
