We Would like to clarify figures contained in the story "White van man hit by new tax," which appeared in yesterday's Business Daily.
Inland Revenue rules are in fact being relaxed and no tax will be payable if a vehicle is used to commute.
The £500 per annum personal use tax will only be incurred if the vehicle is used for journeys other than commuting.
In two years' time (2007/2008) the bill for work-related travel will increase to £3,000, but the average driver will only pay the 22 per cent tax on that amount £660 rather than the full £3,000 as we wrongly reported.
