SWINDON Borough Council has published its statement in response to the objections to proposed Local Plan policies for Coate that will go before a planning inspector on April 19.
Coate Water Country Park, that indicates a rural setting, has already been degraded by the council calling it just a park.
Our calls to put in place a height restriction on buildings to prevent them intruding on the views from Coate Water or from the North Wessex Downs have been described as impractical, arbitrary and unduly prescriptive.
From what we have seen of the high-rise building plans our fears about the adverse impact of the development on Coate Water are totally justified.
We ask that everyone who is as outraged as we are about the proposals joins the more than 15,000 others who have signed the Save Coate petition at www.savecoate.org.uk.
You can also join the STOP rally on Saturday April 9 outside the council offices just after mid-day.
