Hundreds are expected at the joint funeral of Nicky Gough and Colette HolbrookGAZETTE & HERALD: RED and white flowers bearing the names of Nicky Gough and his fiancee Colette Holbrook will accompany their coffins into church on Monday for what is expected to be a huge joint funeral.
The devoted young couple, who had been together for three years, died in the early hours of Easter Monday after Miss Holbrook lost control of her car which hit a tree near Derry Hill.
Mr Gough, 20, of Brook Street, Chippenham, and Miss Holbrook, 21, of Kington Langley, were on their way home from a car cruise in Bournemouth when the accident happened.
Hundreds of people are expected to bring the streets of Chippenham to a standstill on Monday morning when the pair are laid to rest.
Anyone who knew the couple is invited to the 11am funeral at St Paul's Church, which will be followed by a double burial at London Road Cemetery and a wake at The Five Alls pub in Sheldon Road.
Miss Holbrook's mum, Anita, said the two coffins would be brought into church to the song Heaven by DJ Sammy, and the Puff Daddy and Faith Evans version of I'll Be Missing You would be played when they left.
"When I heard the words of Heaven I thought they were so appropriate," she said. "It's about people who can't believe they are in heaven."
Mrs Holbrook, of Doveys Terrace, said the hymns would be Morning Has Broken and All Things Bright and Beautiful, which the former Hardenhuish School pupils would have remembered from school.
Mrs Holbrook has received 130 cards of sympathy, some from people she has never met. She said she anticipated seeing more than 200 people at the funeral.
"Colette didn't have the biggest family there's only around ten of us," she said. "But Nicky's side is quite big and they had so many friends. I heard yesterday that 32 youngsters from Melksham are coming to the funeral who knew Colette and Nicky from Buds Nightclub.
"All the friends I've spoken to I told I was expecting 100 plus people and they've all said 'and the rest'.
"Colette would be over the moon with all this attention. It's typical, she was born on the same day as Prince Harry and she's going out with the Pope."
Mr Gough worked as a landscape gardener in Atworth, and Miss Holbrook was a beauty therapist at Oliver William in New Road. Mrs Holbrook asked mourners to wear whatever they wanted, but not black. She said Miss Holbrook's favourite colour was pink, and said people could bring flowers or make donations to Breast Cancer Awareness.
