GAZETTE & HERALD: PLANS to relocate a betting shop in Corsham's Martingate Centre have been opposed by traders.
Bookies firm Ladbrokes are set to take over the lease on the shop occupied by the Three Cooks bakery, moving from their current spot in the High Street.
But town, district and county Councillor of Corsham, Peter Davis has launched a petition, which was sent to the licensing committee for North Wiltshire two weeks ago.
The petition was signed by 14 people, all but two of the traders in the precinct.
Coun Davis said: "So much money has been spent on re-designing the centre to make it more attractive for public use but to have it invaded by a betting office is just disastrous."
