Amanda Cox Picture References: 76841-185/172A TEENAGER has managed to raise more than £1,000 for Cancer Research in memory of a family friend who died of leukaemia.
Amanda Cox, 18, of Grove Orchard, Highworth, had her long pink hair all shaved off for the charity watched by friends and relatives.
She carried out the act in memory of her 23-year-old sister Kate's best friend Gemma Suckling (nee Lambeth), of Tattershall Close, Toothill, who died from the disease in January at the age of 19.
Gemma died after a long fight against the disease, which saw her having a bone marrow transplant and having to go for regular check-ups at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford.
The sponsored headshave took place at the King and Queen Pub in Highworth on April Fool's Day, Friday, April 1.
