15776/2TRAVEL shop employee David Challinor spent a day in isolation in the style of American illusionist David Blaine to raise money for charity.
The 18-year-old volunteered to spend Saturday shut up on a window ledge at the Thomson travel agent shop fronting Devizes High Street.
He was not allowed to eat, although was allowed bottled water and two toilet breaks. He was also not allowed to talk to anyone during the challenge, which lasted from 9am to 5.30pm.
Mr Challinor, a sales consultant at the shop since August, did it to raise money for Thomson's nominated charity, Macmillan Cancer Relief.
With pledges and donations throughout the day he has raised £140 but hopes the amount will increase.
Mr Challinor, who lives in Devizes, slept for the first hour of his challenge as he was suffering the effects of a cold which had resulted in him being off sick the previous day.
Mr Challinor, a former pupil of Devizes School, said: "It was a bit uncomfortable sat on the window ledge. There wasn't a lot of room so I tried to move about to keep the blood circulating.
"A few people went by the window showing me their sweets and pies and my mates walked past with a crate of beer which wasn't too fair. By the end of the day I was starving but I was happy to do it because it was for charity.
"I don't know how David Blaine managed it being locked up in a box suspended in the air for 40 odd days. I struggled to sit in a window for a day."
