15817/2THE parents of Sam Waters, the ten-year-old who died last September after a battle against brain cancer, have made donations from a fund set up in his name.
Susi and Howard Waters, of Wick Lane, Devizes, chose Monday, which would have been Sam's 11th birthday, to present cheques to five local charities and make three grants to local families referred to them by the Kennet Children's Disability Team of Wiltshire County Council.
Money went to the Naomi House Children's Hospice, the Danbi Children's Trust, Rowdeford Charity Trust, Devizes and District Contact a Family, and Devizes Dazzlers Majorettes.
Jenny Rathbone, the founder and director of Danbi Children's Trust, which provides aids to disabled children, said: "We wanted to provide disabled tricycles to four children but we only had enough money to buy three. Then this cheque for £600 arrived out of the blue, the exact sum for a new trike.
"I was so affected that I nearly burst into tears."
