CANCER charities will be given a boost thanks to a new football tournament.
The Dig Football League will hold the six-a-side on June 11.
Organisers hope it will raise £1,000 for three charities in Swindon.
Derek Leppard, 42, runs the Dig Football League.
Following a bereavement, Mr Leppard decided the tournaments should do something to benefit people suffering from cancer.
The chosen ones are Marie Curie Cancer Research, Prospect Hospice and Great Western Hospital.
Mr Leppard, who also referees football matches, said: "Every single penny will go straight to charity, which is absolutely brilliant."
The Dig six-a-side football matches are every Monday and Friday night in Swindon.
Mr Leppard said: "Rather than the six-a-side matches making money for the clubs I wanted to do something for charity."
The tournament will be held at the Stratton Cross Link Centre, Ermin Street, Stratton.
It will begin at 9am and will continue most of the day.
Mr Leppard is hoping the town's football fans will support the tournament.
The competition is open to all and there is space for up to 64 teams. To register call Mr Leppard on 07811 199953.
