THE West Swindon primary school that will be the first to face the axe has been named.
Salt Way Primary School is the only school to be put forward for closure as part of a re-organisation of West Swindon schools.
The news was made public in a report published today and put together by council officers following a two-month consultation with West Swindon parents, teachers and school staff.
Originally the council said that three schools in West Swindon could close to tackle falling pupil numbers in the area.
There were ten West Swindon schools affected altogether Freshbrook, Windmill Hill, Toothill, Oliver Tomkins Infant and Junior Schools, Westlea, Brook Field, Shaw Ridge, Peatmoor and Tregoze.The report states that the futures of Fresh-brook, Windmill Hill and Toothill remain undecided until further consultations have taken place.
No changes will be made to Oliver Tomkins Infants and Junior Schools at this stage .
