GAZETTE & HERALD: A MAN carrying out odd jobs for an elderly woman was arrested on Friday when a quick-thinking neighbour flagged the police down.
He was arrested on suspicion of deception after carrying out work on a tree and charging more than £100 for the job.
Police in Chippenham were flagged down by the member of the public who was concerned about the man, who was doing some work in the garden of the 83 year-old.
Officers believe the man took the woman to her bank to withdraw money for the work he had carried out.
Chippenham police officers arrested him after receiving information from the neighbour.
The man has been released on bail and will appear in court.
Inspector Neil Bagnall at Chippenham police said: "This was a fantastic example of a concerned neighbour taking positive action. This is to be encouraged."
