GAZETTE & HERALD: CHIPPENHAM Town Council is aiming to re-establish the town as a Little Bath, putting the town firmly on the tourist trail.
This week the council took over the running of the Tourist Information Centre, the biggest in north Wiltshire, from North Wiltshire District Council.
Coun Sandie Webb, leader of Chippenham Town Council said: "We are delighted that we will be providing the Tourist Information Centre in Chippenham.
"Tourism is vital to the sustainability and growth of the town.
"Chippenham is perfectly situated in the north Wiltshire Cotswolds with good transport links."
Town clerk Laurie Brown said: "By taking over this crucial service the town council can give the centre the support and encouragement it deserves, ensuring the town goes from strength to strength."
The Tourist Information Centre is based at the Yelde Hall.
It offers free literature on attractions, accommodation, places of interest and activities.
