PLANS to ban drinking on the streets of Westbury appear to have hit the buffers. The town council's Licensing Working Group (LWG) has recommended a new alcohol bylaw to curb anti-social behaviour, but this needs to be issued by West Wiltshire District Council.
On Monday LWG chairman Mike Hawkins criticised the district council for dragging its heels on the matter.
Cllr Charlie Finbow added: "The other members of the five towns have street drinking bans. How did they manage to get theirs or is Westbury coming last again?"
Members resolved to press the matter further and called for Westbury to have its own community safety group.
