ACTION is to be taken to tackle long post office queues that have formed since two branches shut down.

Since the Bath Road and Woodrow post offices closed down in Melksham, town councillors claim the main Church Street branch has become swamped.

Cllr Joan Kinder said: "Often the queue is outside the door. It's not fair for the elderly. Not only do they have to get to the post office in the first place but they have to stand and wait when they get there."

Melksham Town Council decided on Monday to write to the post office to invite a representative to explain the situation. The letter will also be sent to Melksham MP Michael Ancram.
