PLANS to tackle pollution in two west Wiltshire towns have been submitted to the Government for feedback.
West Wiltshire District Council has drawn up a draft air quality action plan for Bradford on Avon and Westbury because of their traffic pollution levels.
The document details measures already taken to improve air quality such as car sharing initiatives and school travel plans.
For Bradford its suggestions include a partial one-way system, a bypass, a low emission zone and delivery restrictions.
Options listed for Westbury are a bypass, other A350 and A36 improvements and a bus link to the West Wilts Trading Estate.
Environmental services portfolio holder Cllr Richard Wiltshire said: "It has taken some time to bring this draft action plan forward, but we needed to ensure that it fitted within the aims of the new Local Transport Plan.
"We have also been reliant on information being provided by other bodies, and there have been some delays. However, we now have a document that clearly sets out the problems that we face and the possible solutions that are available.
"Work will continue over the coming months to ensure the plan provides a firm framework for reducing air pollution in Bradford on Avon and Westbury."
The council will incorporate any feedback from the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs before submitting a complete document to ministers by the end of August.
