CHRIS Kirkland has taken the children of Wootton Bassett FC and on a football tour of Holland this week.
Kirkland, 64, has been organising football tours to Holland for almost two decades and is on his 17th consecutive trip. The former deputy head of Wootton Bassett School first started the tour with the school team in 1989.
The teacher retired four years ago but has chosen to continue the trend, taking 43 children from the Bassett U12, U13 and U14 sides.
He said: "It is a great trip to go on, the children are always well behaved and are excited to go.
"They love learning about football as well as playing it on the pitch. It is great for the kids to play youngsters from another country."
During the five day tour they will play SV Loosduinen, EBOH, and Dutch league side FC Dordrecht, and have tours around Feyenoord's ground.
