ECSTATIC manager Gary Skidmore praised his players' performance after they picked up their first victory since October.

A brace from top scorer Luke Gullick and a goal from winger Paul Poiner gave Biddestone only their third win of the season on Saturday.

He said his team's confidence is on the up ahead of their derby clash at high flyers Calne on Tuesday night.

Skidmore said: "We are all excited about the game. They are a good side but the lads will be pumped up for it."

The strugglers have nothing to play for as their future in the Screwfix First Division is guaranteed because no teams are to be relegated this season.

But the manager has set his side the target of not finishing rock bottom.

He feels his players are getting closer to achieving the goal and was hopeful of a win before the match as Biddestone narrowly lost to Weston just a week ago.

He said: "We thought we were going to win the match after last week. We picked up a few of their weaknesses and capitalised on them."

After a slow start the hosts found themselves a goal behind within 20 minutes.

With five minutes remaining of the first half a long kick from keeper Chris Snoddy found the alert Gullick. He read the high bounce and headed over the advancing keeper.

The hosts took the lead in the 57th minute when Poiner floated in a dangerous corner to Gullick on the far post and he tapped in.

Moments later Biddestone doubled their advantage through Poiner, the first time this season they have netted three in a match.

Weston did try to rescue something from the game and hit a consolation eight minutes from time.
