COLIN Bush is still shaking his head at his side's outstanding season after watching them return to winning ways on Saturday.

Goals from midfielder Jack Cullis and striker Alan Griffin gave the hosts their 24th win of what the boss called an unbelievable season.

After gaining promotion to the Premier Division by the skin of their teeth last term, Corsham have gone from strength to strength and are now lying third.

The manager was delighted with the win and thought it was important not to get into the habit of losing after a fantastic 22-game unbeaten run.

Bush said: "It was not the prettiest of games, the conditions were difficult and the ball was bouncing all over the place.

"But it was a competitive match and we had the edge over them.

"We dominated the second half and they could not touch us.

"We are back to winning ways. When a long run comes to an end you have to be careful not to go on a losing streak and pick up the next win as soon as possible.

"This season has been amazing and the lowest we can finish now is sixth, which is a great achievement for everyone at the club."

Bush is now looking towards their game on Saturday against Torrington at the Southbank. The two sides met on the opening day of the season when two late goals gave Torrington a 3-2 win.

He said: "We will be looking to put the record books straight on Saturday. They are an improved side since we last played them it seems like years ago."

Striker Toby Colbourne will be missing as he is suspended but Bush welcomes back winger Scott Lye who missed Saturday's clash as he was on a skiing holiday.

Corsham had the majority of the possession in the first half but could not break down the resilient Bitton defence.

Midfielder John Eldred came close in the opening minutes but his shot flew wide.

Griffin then went through on goal but his shot trickled wide of the post.

Bitton continued to cause the hosts problems and were tough to break down.

The breakthrough finally came in the 70th minute when striker Toby Colbourne showed great vision to flick the ball into the path of Cullis.

He easily tucked it away to bag his eighth goal of the campaign.

Bitton attempted to claw their way back into the match but a great display from centre backs Colin Towler and Nigel Curtis made it difficult for the visitors to get a shot on goal.

In the dying minutes the game was sealed when Cullis went through on the keeper for the second time in the match.

The guest shot-stopper managed to parry the midfielder's shot but it fell at the feet of prolific goalscorer Griffin, who had a simple tap-in to net his 27th goal of the season.

With nothing left to play for, manager Bush is trying to finish a successful season on a high.

He said: "We want to have a great finish to this season.

"We have achieved our aim this year but it is important not to give up."
