I AM pleased to be perhaps one of the first owners of a copy of the book Wiltshire Life and Times that I purchased yesterday and would like to thank all the persons concerned for such a well compiled item.
I particularly like the Then and Now section and regularly follow such items that you produce in the Wiltshire Times.
I am sure that you must have many more such pictures/photographs that could perhaps be the subject of an individual book.
While I am not a native of Wiltshire I have lived and worked in the county from 1960-1965 and subsequently 1970 to date.
Most of my working life was as a sales representative for a major insurer covering the majority of the county so I am fairly well conversant with the area.
However, under the heading Royal Visits and Events, pages 45 and 46, I am somewhat confused by the photograph on page 45 whereby the caption states: A party to celebrate the royal wedding of Prince Charles and Lady Diana Spencer at The Homestead, Trowbridge, in July 1981. Yet on page 46 the same photograph appears with the caption: Corsham Jubilee thanksgiving service, June 1977.
Perhaps it may be our Royal Family that is causing the confusion since none of the younger members seem to stay married very long!
