A CHANGE in the route of a carnival means some people may not get to see the event this year.
For the first time Trowbridge carnival procession is to stop at Bythesea Road rather than continue through the Seymour estate back to its Canal Road starting point.
Eddie Brookes, chairman of the tenants and residents association on the Seymour estate, said: "I think it is a shame, first because of the elderly and secondly because it would be a pity not to see them complete the route.
"There are elderly people who remember the carnival from its early days and like to watch it but don't have the means to go into town."
The town council believes the route is too long and Bythesea Road is a convenient stopping point because the County Hall car park can be used. The idea is for people to park in the car park and a minibus will take them to Canal Road for the start.
