A 71-YEAR-OLD tennis fan died while playing the sport he loved. David Clark, of Greenhill Gardens, Hilperton was playing tennis, one of his favourite sports, at Melksham House tennis courts on Thursday when he died.
His sister Marian Wilton, 68, of Mendip Gardens, Bath, said her brother had been passionate about sport and played tennis three times a week.
She said: "He was incredibly active and quite a character.
"I still can't believe it. It's hard enough when you are expecting it but this was out of the blue.
"It couldn't have been planned better because he was doing something he loved when he died but I wish he had been doing it for a few more years.
Friends he was playing tennis with tried to resuscitate him before the ambulance arrived but were unsuccessful.
They contacted Mrs Wilton to tell her about his death so she did not have to hear it from police.
His funeral is due take place at St Michael's Church, Hilperton, at 10am today.
