ALL drivers may soon be able to use bus lanes, if Swindon Council goes ahead with plans.
The move would see some lanes, including the town centre area of Fleming Way, open to traffic from 7pm to 7am.
Exceptions would include County Road, Princes Street, Tewkesbury Way and Penzance Drive.
Only a handful of people have objected to the proposal during the consultation period, which ended this week, the council said yesterday.
Coun Jemima Milton, the cabinet member for transport and environment, will now consider the objections and decide whether to go ahead with the plans.
Liberal Democrat councillor Stan Pajak was one of the objectors.
He said the move would give little benefit as the roads were not congested at the times affected and that he feared motorists would think bus lanes did not operate any more.
