YOU have reported about the confusion regarding the new arrangements for the collection of refuse and recycled materials.

The confusion was compounded when areas of Swindon were notified of one date but no one arrived to collect the waste.

This was bad news for Swindon Services and director John Short had to face the flack.

Why is that "good news"equals Justin Tomlinson, the Lead Member for Swindon Services, and "bad news" equals John Short or a council spokesperson?

I suggest they hurry up and get things right because we will soon be inundated with election leaflets of all shapes, sizes and colours and these will need to be recycled.

Finally, a Smoke Free Award was recently issued to an establishment in Swindon. These awards are issued by Swindon Borough Council and the Primary Care Trust, to "encourage as many organisations as possible to create adequate smoking policy's to protect the people of Swindon."

When is the Link Centre, which Swindon Council owns and which promotes the health of the population, to become a 100 per cent smoke free zone?
