I NOTE with interest the comments by prospective MPs regarding the Swindon Together On Planning STOP campaign and the march tomorrow.

While some of the groups who support STOP may have political party members, the alliance itself is not party political.

STOP is though inherently political (with a small p) in that its aim is to influence decision makers about planning and, invariably, these are politicians.

Everybody is welcome to support the campaign and to march tomorrow, whatever shade of party they align with (or not). This is all about principles as opposed to policies.

Some individuals with ulterior motives may seek to get on the STOP bandwagon or to hijack the event to further their own particular cause, but they can be certain that the STOP organisers are having none of it.

This is about people and the place that they live, not party politics. Indeed, if all of the parties and their members agreed with STOP then it wouldn't need to exist.
