Unable to mount a sustained threat to the visitors' line, Minety nevertheless worked hard and long to contain a Sherborne side that had put 70 points on them earlier in the season.
Solid and persistent tackling from the home side instead restricted the visitors to a couple of unconverted tries in the first half but after the interval, Sherborne's superior speed and fitness began to tell. Winger Ryan Hunt ended up with a double and the other try scorers for the visitors were Nigel Francis, Tom Sheffield, Dave Hobden and Richard Nias. Ed Elliot-Square kicked three conversions.
Minety's only reward was a penalty goal from the boot of Ryan Dowling.
This Saturday, Minety travel away to take on North Dorset, while the seconds visit Supermarine.
