WESTLECOT made a brave bid for glory in the national fours competition but lost out in the semi-finals.
The rink of Mel Biggs, Jamie Titcombe, Mark Dyer and Neil Hope were beaten 26-15 at the English Indoor Bowling Association headquarters in Melton Mowbray by Newquay.
Westlecot made a poor start and trailed the Cornishmen 13-2 early on but fought back to only 13-12.
However, their opponents then pulled away for a comfortable victory.
In round one Westlecot beat Nottingham 22-16.
