Broadgreen Breakfast Club helps the homeless and needy. It has been running for 12 years and operates from the Broadgreen Centre, Salisbury Street.
It is open every day except for a few days over Christmas. A hot breakfast is provided from 6.30am to 8.30am to the homeless and needy in Swindon.
It is a welcome haven to warm up first thing in the morning after sleeping out in the cold.
Shower facilities are available and Outreach Workers from Swindon Housing call in regularly.
There are five paid staff and volunteers who also come along to help wash up, serve breakfast and have a chat with the people that use the club.
The Breakfast Club is vital to the community. It helps the vulnerable people in our society who find themselves homeless and having to sleep rough, along with those who are isolated or are trying to rebuild their lives.
Unfortunately, some people can't cope with life and have many problems and it is only with the kind support of others that they can have a hot meal at the start of the day.
Although Swindon Borough Council gives a grant, over half again is needed to keep the project running. The support of local businesses and trusts is invaluable in meeting the shortfall. Any contributions or donations of toiletries, break-fast cereals, beans and tom-atoes are gratefully received. Volunteers are also welcome.
