The Lower Shaw Farm Children's Project provides seasonal creative play and learning opportunities for children and their families. It aims to encourage environmental awareness, an appreciation of nature and a community spirit.
We offer opportunities to play safely but adventurously, and take part in activities that include rural and seasonal crafts, games, story walks and informal learning in an environmentally friendly setting.
The farm is a three-acre oasis in an area of suburban development. Its outbuildings have been converted to meeting rooms and workshops. With its organic gardens, wild spaces, ponds, poultry, black sheep and pig, and play areas for all ages, the farm has developed an atmosphere and character of its own. The Charity Ball's contribution will enable us to offer a series of Environmental Activity Days, taking place in school holidays and half-term breaks.
