WESTLECOT fell at the penultimate hurdle in the national indoor fours being staged at Melton Mowbray.
The quartet of Mel Biggs, Jamie Titcombe, Mark Dyer and Neil Hope never recovered from a poor start and lost 26-15 in the semi-finals to Newquay.
They had earlier in the last 32 beaten Nottingham 22-16 and then Tye Green 28-19. And followed that up with a 24-4 victory in the quarter-finals over Lincoln.
However, in the triples Westlecot's hopes of success were quickly ended. The trio of Mike Jackson, Graham Hatherall and Ian Jefferies lost in the first round 24-13 to old rivals Desborough (Maidenhead).
Jackson and Hatherall are next in action tomorrow morning when they compete in the pairs championship.
