THIEVES have removed lead from a building site in Old Town.
Police say a substantial quantity of lead strips were taken from the site in Victoria Road, near the junction with Prospect Place, overnight on Monday.
Thieves removed boarding to get into the site and then removed the lead from the unfinished roof.
A black wheelbarrow also went missing and police believe it was used to steal the lead.
A Swindon police spokeswoman said: "We appeal to anyone who either witnessed the theft in progress or can give information to help with our inquiries to get in touch."
