CHIPPENHAM Town officials were left appalled by the behaviour of Aylesbury United's directors, manager and fans after a stormy clash in Buckinghamshire on Saturday.
Chairman Sandie Webb said: "It was the most intimidating game I've been to. I thought the way the Aylesbury players and directors behaved was disgraceful.''
She said the way the club was treated during and after the 3-2 defeat prompted the Bluebirds party to make a hasty exit. Her husband and club president Doug led the exodus after Aylesbury boss Danny Nicholls and some of the club's directors made dispariging remarks about Town manager Steve White.
Webb said: "Afterwards the manager and the officials were all having a go at Steve. They were very unpleasant.
"Doug came into the directors' room and said 'I really think we should be going now' which is not like him at all. He is normally very sociable and is one of the last to leave.
"We are not going to make an official complaint, it is too near the end of the season and I think they treat everyone the same. It is just a tactic they use.''
Striker Sam Allison was left nursing two cracked ribs after an unsavoury challenge from United keeper Jack Rashid during the match.
White was so badly abused by fans behind the dugout he was forced to move to the stand to diffuse the situation. Webb said: "The language the fans were using was appalling, particularly towards Steve. They were saying he was just a third rate Luton player and seemed to be having a go at him because of his connections there.''
Nicholls said after the game he was not happy with a number of challenges committed by Chippenham players.
He said: "If they want to kick their way to the title that is up to them."
He had spoke angrily to White on several occasions in the first half before the Bluebirds manager moved to the opposite side of the pitch.
Nicholls added: "Steve White thinks he is a big time Charlie. He used to be as a player but is not any more."
Bad feeling had spilled over from the clubs' ill-tempered fixture at Hardenhuish Park in October when Rashid lashed out at a Chippenham steward at the end of the game.
