WILTSHIRE LEAGUE: CASTLE Combe, looking to go through the season undefeated in Wilts Junior Division Two, finally met their match when they were beaten 6-1 on their own ground by Westlecott United.

A delighted Westlecott manager James Lovell said: "It was one of our best performances of the season, we fought hard and played some decent football at times.

"We dominated the midfield and fully deserved our victory."

The home side took the lead after five minutes but the Swindon side fought back to score three times before the break and add another three after the interval.

Johan Sutton completed a hat-trick, Max Leslie weighed in with a brace and Byron Sutton added a sixth.

The home side had gone undefeated for 21 league games.

County Ground earned the right to meet Blunsdon United in the final of the Fountain Trophies Junior Cup when they defeated West Swindon 4-1 in the semi-final.

West Swindon had the edge in the first half, Ryan Wheeler latching on to a good ball from Mark Smyth to score for the home side and Jason Daly on target for the County Ground.

Soon after the start of the second half the home side almost regained their lead with a good effort that struck the woodwork.

However, against the run of play, Daly put the visitors in front, Paul Johnson added a third and Mick Goodwin netted a fourth from the spot.

Assistant West Swindon boss Smyth said: "We had our chances, the lads fought well and the scoreline flattered them."

Wilts Premier leaders Bradford Town's title hopes received a setback when they were beaten 3-2 at Marlborough.

It was the second win on the trot for a revitalised Marlborough side since Kevin Jackson joined manager Pete Ward as his assistant.

A goal midway through the first half by Andy Deery enabled the home side to go in at the break a goal to the good with Justin Guineiri adding a second after the restart.

Bradford fought back to equalise with strikes from Tom Pang and Mark Gerrish but, not to be denied, Guineiri struck again for a deserved victory.

Cricklade Town moved into fourth spot in the table following their 1-0 away win at Pewsey.

Home defender Alan Wheeler gifted the visitors with the only goal of the game, heading a corner into his own net.

Purton put up a gallant struggle against AFC Stratton before losing 2-1 to a late goal from Tom Restell.

Honours were fairly even in a goaless first half but 10 minutes after the break Mick Casey put Stratton ahead from the penalty spot.

The home side fought back and drew level in the closing stages with a strike from Ryan Keech.

With both sides looking set to share the points Restell struck with almost the last kick of the game to deny Purton a deserved point.

A penalty in the 88th minute by Jamie Gale gave Devizes a 1-0 away win over Shrewton United.
