A DRAMATIC late winner from Nathan Perkins sent his manager Mark Godley jumping with joy on Saturday.
When Perkins' drilled in from ten yards the whole Devizes bench leaped up in pure jubilation as they recorded their second straight win.
Godley explained the reaction: "It was a massive result for us. The win helps our situation but we are by no means safe from relegation yet.
"We need a few more results it is down to us to retain our status."
At one point the manager thought the game was going to peter out to a draw, which he felt would have been a harsh result.
"In the second half we dominated and the players thoroughly deserved the win, Andy King did not have one save to make. When the goal went in I felt more relief than anything," he said.
"We did not play with the intensity that we showed against Exmouth but we worked hard and showed great discipline."
The boss is now looking ahead to Saturday's crucial match when they welcome fellow relegation strugglers Odd Down to Nursteed Road.
"It is another big game for us and we have to get a result. But I have said for a number of weeks that the relegation fight will go down to the wire, there are still a few more twists and turns left in the final six games."
Striker Dave Kilmurray missed the host's best chance when he failed to connect on Steve Sartin's cross with the goal at his mercy.
Gary Campbell was also guilty of missing a golden opportunity. The decisive goal came with seven minutes to play when Perkins hit a venomous shot off Kilmurray's headed pass.
