KENNET District Council has been awarded £5,000 for promoting recycling. The money has come from the Waste Resources Action Programme .
It will be used to provide leaflets to promote the council's new kerbside collection schemes.
Currently 8,780 properties in Devizes and Marlborough receive a multi material recycling collection service of paper, glass, textiles and cans, with a further 21,000 rural properties provided with a kerbside recycling collection of paper.
This month the multi material collection service will be expanded to include Aldbourne, Ramsbury, Mildenhall, Axford and Pewsey.
This year the scheme will be enlarged to cover more than 60 per cent of the district's residents and next year over 95 per cent of the district will be included.
Next month the council will be introducing a new fortnightly kerbside collection for garden waste from wheelie bins.
