A CIGARETTE left burning in a bedroom has been blamed for a minor blaze that broke out at Stamford House sheltered flats in Sheep Street, Devizes, on Monday.
Firefighters from Devizes, Melksham, Calne and Trowbridge were alerted shortly before 8am but the fire was put out and the incident officially ended at 8.20am.
One of the residents at the flats said: "There was more smoke than anything else. They got everyone down to the residents' lounge and we all had to stay there until the fire brigade gave us the all clear."
