THE summer edition of What's On in Devizes, the guide produced by Devizes Development Partnership, will be twice its usual size because of all the events taking place.
Events begin in June with Devizes Festival but things really get busy in July. On July 2, Devizes Beer Festival will be held at the Wharf.
On July 3, the ten-mile Kennet Kanter run will be held with a family fun day. In the week leading up to July 10, there will be events connected with the joint celebrations to mark the 60th anniversary of VE and VJ Days. The following weekend, July 16 and 17, there is a re-enactment of the Battle of Roundway Down.
In August and September there are a host of events in connection with Devizes Carnival, culminating in the street festival on bank holiday Monday and the procession the following Saturday.
Doug Roseaman of Wiltshire Heritage Museum is hoping to organise a visual arts festival in September when artists will exhibit in venues not usually connected with artistic endeavour.
Finally, the Devizes Food and Drink Festival in September will bring a host of culinary events to venues all over the town.
