STUDENT Stephanie Clarke, 19, from Poulshot, near Devizes, was named runner-up in the regional semi-final of Specsavers Opticians' annual modelling competition, Sexiest Specs Wearer 2005.
Stephanie, a former pupil of Lavington School and St Augustine's College, was selected from thousands of entries nationwide to join 12 other "sexy specs" wearers at the event held at Specsavers' main office in the centre of Birmingham last week.
She was competing for a place in the star-studded grand final in London in May. The overall winner could secure a one-year modelling contract with top agency, Models 1, as well as a two-week all-inclusive holiday for two in Mexico, plus £250 spending money.
Stephanie said: "I was shocked to have been chosen to go through to the semi-final. I didn't think I stood a chance. It's a shame I did not go on to win the modelling contract and a fantastic holiday, but it was good fun taking part."
