GOLDEN wedding pair John and June Durston were delighted when their family said they were treating them to a pub meal for their anniversary.
However when the pair arrived at the Horseshoe Inn at Mildenhall for Sunday lunch they were staggered to find out they had company.
Their two daughters and one son and seven grandchildren with partners were all there, a total of 16.
Mrs Durston said: "We went in and there were all 16 of them. Apparently as we had walked towards the pub they had all dived under tables and chairs so we wouldn't see them in there."
The West Overton couple's anniversary was on Saturday but as they are both devout Swindon Town supporters their family knew better than to arrange any celebrations that day.
As it turned out, said Mrs Durston, 71, it was not a day for celebrating anyway because Swindon went down 2-1 to Walsall which ruled them out of the Coca- Cola League 1 play-offs.
Mr and Mrs Durston were married at St George's Church at Preshute and have spent all their married life in West Overton.
