CHIPPENHAM NEWS: A NIGHT of rock 'n' roll music to mark the 45th anniversary of the death of Eddie Cochran is on the menu in Chippenham on Saturday night.
The Zig Zag Band and Halle Bop Trio are performing a celebration of 1960s music at the Rowden Arms Hungry Horse from 9pm.
Rock star Eddie Cochran died after a car crash on Rowden Hill on April 17 1960 and a plaque outside the pub marks the tragic spot.
Drummer Mike Morrissey of the Zig Zag Band said: "The music appeals to all ages, no matter where we play, whether it's a pub or a birthday party you get the youngsters joining older people dancing because they all know the songs.
"A lot of people in Chippenham like rock 'n' roll music, I went to the Eddie Cochran festival in September and stayed there all weekend.
"Saturday night will be more of a celebration of music from Eddie's era."
The Zig Zag Band is bass guitarist Kevin Lang, of Bath, rhythm guitarist Pete Minney, of Chippenham, lead guitarist Hubert Dias, Nobby Keys, of Melksham, drummer Mike Morrissey and lead singer 'Blind' Charlie Harding, of Trowbridge.
