CHIPPENHAM NEWS: A SCHOOLBOY died after a car crash involving an RAF Lyneham worker, an inquest into his death heard this week.

Hayley Farquar, 20, was driving from her home in Paignton, Devon, to RAF Lyneham when her car collided with a Volvo on the M4 near Bristol in March 2004.

Schoolboy Laurie Hine, 15, of Radstock, Somerset, died from brain injuries suffered in the accident and his mother Susan spent five days in intensive care following the crash.

An inquest at Flax Bourton coroner's court on Tuesday heard Miss Farquar was driving in the middle lane of the motorway when the Volvo, driven by the schoolboy's father, pulled out in front of her.

She said: "I braked really hard. The road was really wet and my car started bouncing from side to side and going towards the central reservation. I managed to get hold of it but clipped the car.

"I then saw his car in my rear view mirror crashing behind me."

Avon coroner Terry Moore said no drivers were to blame for the accident and recorded a verdict of accidental death.
