COUNTY FOOTBALL: A BRACE from star man Yan Klukowski saw Wiltshire's youth team surge past Gloucestershire to come within two games of an historic double.

The England schoolboy skipper netted in each half at Bristol Manor Farm on Tuesday night to take Wiltshire through to the South West Counties Championship final.

Tomorrow they face Devon in the Mick Parry Trophy final at Swindon Town and victories in both games would be a Wiltshire first manager Mel Gingell is desperate to achieve.

He said: "It will be nice to do the double so let's hope we can win the Mick Parry game first.

"Up to now it has been a very good season, but it will be great to end it by winning something."

Wiltshire lifted the South West Counties Championship in 2004 with a dramatic last-minute victory over Gloucestershire, but they have yet to win the Mick Parry Trophy. Victory tomorrow will put Gingell's under 18 side in confident mood to defend their regional crown against Dorset on May 7 at Melksham Town.

Wiltshire fell behind to an early goal on Tuesday night, but Klukowksi soon levelled the scores. Salisbury City's Adrian Heath put the visitors ahead just before the break before Klukowski's second sealed the game 10 minutes from time and saw Wiltshire finish as group winners.

Gingell said: "The youth side have now won their group three times out of four, which is a great achievement.

"They played really well last night. That's probably the best they have done all season."

He added: "It's great for Wiltshire more than anything.

"I would like to pay tribute to my assistant Alistair Belcher and physio Ian Williams they have put a lot of hard work in this year.

"I'm also really glad for the Wilts FA because they deserve some success. They have been waiting for it a long time."
